Press Release: Security of Supply Priority at Oskarshamn 3 – Interruption in Present Test Program

2011-11-29: Oskarshamn 3 will as of the on-coming Wednesday afternoon interrupt its present test program in order to minimise the risk of operational disturbances during the high load period. The power will thus be reduced to approximately 1,300 MW gross, the level against which the facility so far has been tested. The remaining tests at full power will instead be realised as soon as the weather situation and the power need so permit.

Press Release: Internal Investigation Indicates Development Needs – Shutdown of O1 Prolonged for Total Turbine Inspection

2011-11-18: The operations management of Oskarshamn 1 (O1) has decided to get to the bottom of the problems with vibrations in the turbine facility which have caused the current shutdown of the facility. The decision comprises a thorough inspection which is estimated to last for about one month. With the same decisive approach an improvement work assignment has been initiated within the operating department. Its aim is to prevent human error in connection with the types of operational cases having occurred in connection with the testing of the implemented improvements in the turbine.

2011-11-16: When preparing the re-start of Oskarshamn 1 (O1) on late Tuesday evening a disturbance arose on the feed water system which entails a prolongation of the current operational interruption. 2011-11-02: The nuclear power plants’ reports regarding stress tests have now been submitted to the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority, SSM. In the summarizing public part of the report it can be established that owing to our consequence mitigation systems the Swedish nuclear power plants have the capability to withstand severe accidents without exposing the surroundings to hazardous releases.

These are due to the implemented modifications in the turbine system, which were recommended by the supplier.
