OKG believes in a continued positive development for nuclear power. Our aim is that the plants will operate with the highest possible safety and with high accessibility for at least 60 years. We are even investigating different possibilities for increasing production since there will be a need for more electricity in the future.
We need to invest in safety and accessibility modernisation to be certain that the plants can at least operate during their 60 year technical lifetime. Detailed ten year plans are made and more general planning for the entire expected lifetime has been started. Every plant has an individual plan, which also includes possibilities for efficiency improvements and thermal power upgrades. The long-term development of the plant has so far resulted in an extensive investment program. At the end of 2011 we will be able to summarize the measures that have been taken, which have been the foundation for 60 years of operations in our three plants. We have been investing more then 15 billion SEK in modernisation and power upgrades since the 1990s. The largest ongoing projects for our three nuclear power plants and for our other facilities are the new exclusion area and the modernisation of O2 and O3.
