In connection with the modernizing activities at Oskarshamn 3 the plant will be turned from the grid in order to attend to one of the facility’s safety systems. During the interruption of operations continued inspections and measures enabling continued ascent to full power will be carried out.
On 17 December Oskarshamn 3 restarted following last year’s comprehensive modernizing activities. During the ongoing trial operations period necessary measures were identified last week. These measures must be taken within 30 days, but OKG has decided to carry out the work as early as possible. During the interruption other checks and measures are also implemented for the fulfillment of the trial operations period.
– Initially the facility was operated at a power of approximately 350 MW and the recent weeks we have operated at a power of approximately 650 MW, the Acting Production Manager, Mr. Carl-Johan Kemgren, relates. In order to come to terms with problems in one of our safety systems we have to turn the facility from the grid. Only thereafter the trial operations period can continue and a further ascent to full power will be possible.
Oskarshamn 3 thus interrupts its power deliveries temporarily during Friday evening and it is foreseen that production will be resumed during the coming Tuesday.
Oskarshamn 1 as well as Oskarshamn 2 deliver electricity at full power.
