Oskarshamn 3 (O3) was synchronized to the grid again on Wednesday July 21. The reactor was taken off the power grid on July 13 due to a heavy thunderstorm. The output will however be limited for some time and will be on circa 75 per cent (760 MW), as a consequence of problems with the regulation in the turbine condensate system and the previously identified vibrations. With the purpose to attend to these problems, unit Oskarshamn 3 will be shut down for measures between the 4th and 12th of August.
On July 13, a thunderstorm hit the south of Sweden and caused disturbances to the power grid between the town Alvesta and Simpevarp. This resulted in that unit Oskarhamn 3’s generator was disconnected and a scram was initiated at the reactor. After having established the cause of the operational interruption and after having performed other kind of measures, Oskarshamn 3 was synchronized to the Swedish power grid again on Wednesday afternoon.
The unit will however be operated with reduced power. This is due to the problems detected with the regulation in the turbine condensate system and the vibrations in the reactor’s main steam lines detected in connection with the trial operation programme now in process at Oskarshamn 3 after the completion of the extensive safety and modernization work. Since the aim is to solve these problems and be able to continue the trial operation period, and by this making it possible to obtain the new maximum power output on 1,450 MW, Oskarshamn 3 will be taken off the grid on August 4 for an eight day long shutdown.
Oskarshamn 1 and Oskarshamn 2 deliver electricity at maximum power.
