Leaky Valve Causes Downtime at unit Oskarshamn 3

Pressrelease Thursday, October 04, 2018

Early on Thursday morning, the electricity production was temporarily stopped at unit Oskarshamn 3 (O3). Measures will be taken on a leaky valve in the residual heat removal system, before the operation can be resumed.

During the past few days, the operations management at unit O3 was able to confirm that the problem with a leaky valve in the residual heat removal system had increased. On the night before Thursday 4 October, the problem grew and a decision was subsequently made that the power would be gradually reduced in order to temporarily shut down the operation to take measures on the valve. Unit O3 was disconnected from the grid shortly after 06.00 a.m. on Thursday morning and troubleshooting was initiated.

In connection with the temporary shutdown, a few other maintenance measures will also be performed. The shutdown has been assessed to only last for a short period of time. Detailed information about the duration of the shutdown is found on the website of the Nordic power market, www.nordpoolspot.com.
