On last Thursday, with Oskarshamn (O3) being reconnected to the grid, OKG completed the annual maintenance shutdown. The facility will shortly resume supplying a climate-efficient and safe base load at full power.

After a season of operation which has seen stable production, it is again time to carry out the annual maintenance shutdown at Oskarshamn 3 (O3). We can now look forward to 26 intensive days of safety tests and quality control to ensure a stable supply of electricity up until the 2019 maintenance outage.

At the end of April the agency approved the safety report that applies for segmentation of internal components at O2. This was the last piece of the puzzle that was missing before segmentation could be started. On May 14 an important milestone was passed, when the first segmentation could be carried out.

At the end of April, the first cutting work of project Serin, the segmentation of the reactor pressure vessel’s internals, will take place at Oskarshamn 2 (O2), thus initiating the first major decommissioning work at the plant. OKG and the supplier, General Electric Hitachi (GEH), are currently preparing for the upcoming work.

2017 was a better year for electricity generation for Oskarshamn 3 (O3), even though deliveries to the public did not reach the previous year's record levels. The year also saw work to implement the decision to decommission Oskarshamn 1 (O1) and Oskarshamn 2 (O2). So 2017 was a concrete watershed in the company's history.
