Unit Oskarshamn 1 Delivers Electricity at Maximum Power again after Successful Measures Taken
Pressrelease Monday, April 10, 2017
After a short period of down time, unit Oskarshamn 1 (O1) was restarted on Saturday 8 April. Great coordination and work performed by the employees made it possible to again have the unit serve the public, delivering climate efficient base load power at maximum power to the Swedish households and industries.
Due to a detected water leak in a system in the turbine plant, the power ascent following the restart of unit O1 had to be stopped on Friday 7 April.
– We were able to restart the unit on Saturday 8 April after a great team effort by our fellow employees, work characterized by a high level of safety as well as quality, says Mikael Wramsjö, Production Manager at unit Oskarshamn 1.
On Sunday 9 April, unit O1 was again in operation delivering weather independent electricity at maximum power (492 megawatt).
– We are now looking forward to a stable operation until the premature final shutdown of the unit, scheduled to take place on 29 June, Wramsjö concludes.
One of the largest boiling water reactors, unit Oskarshamn 3 (O3), is also in operation and delivers climate efficient electricity to the Swedish grid on maximum power (1,400 megawatt).
