Oskarshamn 1 Taken off the Grid in order for Troubleshooting to be Performed

Pressrelease Wednesday, August 19, 2015

Due to air leakage into the condenser, unit Oskarshamn 1 (O1) has been taken off the grid and troubleshooting has commenced.

Since mid-June it has been noted that air is leaking into the condenser at unit O1 – the equipment which in a closed system converts steam from the turbine into water to be vaporized again in the reactor vessel. It has been detected that the amount of air leaking into the condenser has increased lately. In order to not risk affecting the pressure in the condenser, a decision was recently made to schedule a shutdown. Unit O1 thereby gradually reduced the power on Monday 17 August and later that evening the unit was shut down for troubleshooting to be performed. The electricity production will be resumed as soon as the leak has been located and adequate sealing measures have been taken.
