Resumed Operation at Unit Oskarshamn 1 after Successful Outage

Pressrelease Wednesday, May 18, 2016

The annual outage at unit Oskarshamn 1 (O1) was completed on Saturday 14 May when synchronization to the offsite grid was performed, approximately one day earlier than previously stated in the original time schedule. However, the restart had to be suspended due to oil leakage on a flexible tube in the turbine equipment, and a leaking valve in the auxiliary condenser. The leakages have been remedied and the electricity production was resumed on the morning of 18 May.

The outage started on 28 March and in addition to the usual refuelling, the outage has also involved a number of major activities such as replacement of preheater in the turbine equipment, service on diesel generators and replacement of main recirculation pumps. All the activities were performed in accordance with the set time schedule for the outage.

– This year's outage at unit O1 went very well, in relation to personal safety as well as with respect to the quality of the work, says Mats Ekblad, production manager at O1. We are now looking forward to a stable final operating season with secure deliveries of climate efficient electricity until the turn of the half-year 2017 when the unit will be taken out of operation.

Unit Oskarshamn 1 will gradually increase the power and is estimated to attain maximum capacity on Thursday 19 May.
